the second best album of all time by La Dispute, maybe (it's probably their best I just don't really care for them and wanted the cheap dig)
I think balance will forever be my favourite band that came out of that whole scene. La dispute is a close second though. But each of balance's albums have impacted me on a really personal level
I think this scene was really special, but it's crazy to me how some of these releases have held up with me long-term. I love Shed and Floral Green, never listen to Hyperview. I love Separation, but only listen to scattered tracks from the rest of their discog. I love The Lack Long After, but approach all the work from Keep You onward the same as B&C. It's not a case of only loving the early work - I love all of La Dispute and Touche Amore's records and Citizen has only gotten better - but this really was a special moment in time.
La Dispute was probably my favorite band circa Wildlife but they fell off hard for me. Easily the band I listen to least of all we mentioned. Pianos is probably the most talented musically.
Yeah, Don't Be Long was quite the misstep. Everything You Ever Loved is still my favorite by them. I would have wore a shirt like that too if I had one.
once the leaves start looking like colourmeinkindness, its time for revival emo autumn walks. it is a tradition
That song Seahaven released after Reverie was so damn good, it's such a shame that didn't become part of a larger project.
Rainy, gloomy morning, so I put on LWM + Slowheart EP. The songs on that EP are so good, and really bridge the gap between TTWTWM and LWM.
Light we made rules - can't believe so many people disliked it. The reaction kind of reminds me of the initial reaction to In Reverie. Like you haters are gonna be kicking yourself once it clicks.
It is exhausting to listen to, and it does run long, but I have no idea what I would cut other than Ella and Dirty Head, but I can understand why they wanted those "breather" songs there. I feel like Back of Your Head and When I Come Undone are the ones I don't hear people talk about a lot that I like a ton.
I feel like I’m Swimming could easily be cut. Doesn’t really bring anything to the record that isn’t already there, is a little on the long side, and is one of the tracks most flattened by the production
