i don't think somos sounds much like prawn or dikembe but i also think those bands are good and listen to them more so maybe im missing something i'd hear if i listened to somos with any regularity. I can kiiiinda hear the You Blew It! comparison, if YBI! was poppier and in general chunkier (re: somos' first album). Their vocalists are similar, though
Somos doesn't sound much like any of those bands but all those bands are good and the new Somos album is some good pop rock so listen to all bands mentioned and also listen to the Somos LP and that's called problem solving
im not talking about their first album at all. im talking about the new album. which definitely has the same vibes as these other new wave emo bands. to act like my comparisons are unprecedented is ridiculous lol. just listen to the record for yourselves. im not saying they are exact copies but they are in the same scene.
The comparisons are definitely valid in terms of like associated bands and stuff, I just personally don't think that Somos, even the new one, sound like those bands. But if you change it to vibe, I can see the Dikembe comparison more.
Wasn't attacking you or anything, all those bands are in the same realm. I actually think they sound the least like Dikembe. I also think people could just hit play on a two minute track to see if it's their thing haha
New Somos is just alright. Sounds dumb, but I can't get over the guy sounding British when he's not. Kingfisher is incredible, if you haven't listened to that and Prawn's split with Moving Mountains (produced by Yip) then that should be listened to IMMEDIATELY. I think they are the most underrated band in this scene, and I don't want them to go away.
Does anyone know what color the retail variant of this is? Saw it in my record store the other day and thought about buying it but not if it's a variant I don't like
Love it. Gives the song some cool variation, especially with the electronic elements in the verse mixed in with a more traditional sounding chorus. Great song.
