All of those are great bands, and they all have, imo, one stand out album so far. Check out: Basement - I Wish I Could Stay Here Title Fight - Floral Green. Seahaven - Winter Forever Turnover - Peripheral Vision (Actually more The Cure vibes than this) Tigers Jaw - Charmer Citizen - Youth. Bolds are my favourites. Maybe check out bands like La Dispute, Pianos Become The Teeth (Keep You is 10/10) and Touche Amore for stuff that is similar but with it's own twist.
Yeah I mean I like the record for sure, but sometimes I listen and "pop punk tries to write Real Estate record" is all I can hear. I think they'll continue to get better
I like it precisely because it's a pop punk band trying to be Real Estate all those weird "let's try to sound like X band" experiments are fascinating failures to me (except when they try to sound like Radiohead[/quote])
I don't think the turnover album is good but I like it a lot, good vibe record, hate the lyrics mostly and the record is so damn samey
Yeah I'm not a fan of the lyrics either. I think that's mostly why I still feel like it's a pop punk record at heart haha
Cutting My Fingers Off is an objectively great song and the stupid lyrics are part of it but yeah, it's a band trying their hand at something new and they kind of sloppily manage to just barely pull it off, and that's the charm
so far, all of these bands either make a career out of one standard thing or go on to wear their influences directly on their sleeves
i like it! it's a good singalong record and it's catchy and it's really good late summer driving music i just don't think it's that good! as i said i hate the lyrics, there's no diversity, not a good singer...they just hit a perfect sort of mindless mood of as i said, late summer driving music
Any of you guys check out the two song EP they put out a few months back? Kinda just sounded like PV b-sides to me, but I really like that album a whole lot so I didn't mind at all haha.
I quite often refer to Turnover as the poor-man's Real Estate. glad to know I'm not the only one who gets it.
Tigers Jaw are great As are Prawn and PBTT Most of the records released by B&C's contemporaries lately are very stale and uninspired
The bands mentioned by people in this thread just now Citizen, Turnover, Superheaven, Seahaven, Basement, Title Fight, etc.
Hyperview held up a lot better than PV did for me. I have a feeling the next TF record is going to be insanely good or weirdly terrible
