Also this is not a take about their music, but this narrative that Taylor Swift or Beyonce are as big as Michael Jackson, or maybe even Madonna, is crazy and something only Americans could come up with. You could go into a German (or, like, Kazakh) retirement home for people with dementia and wake up every 90+ year old in the middle of the night and they'd know who Michael Jackson is. None of them know who Taylor Swift is. What stardom means in these different eras (sigh) is incomparable.
