I can safely say l hate 80s and 90s REM. That jangly sound is nails down the chalkboard stuff, especially with Stipes voice over it.

REM is solid. I did the albums when I started the RU REM podcast (until it got too annoying for me), but I definitely only return to their singles. The Cure is one of the best bands ever. I do tend to listen to their singles over full albums (sans Disintegration and the new one, which are full album plays every time), but they're absolutely an "albums band" prior to Kiss Me. I'd say Three Imaginary Boys is a bit weak, but the rest are "album" albums.

i deleted my post, but…. losing my religion is the first song i ever in my life remember hearing. going back through their discography recently, they have a lot of weird, funky instrumentation stuff going on. they were definitely ahead of their time.

If I saw someone was into Averi or Chad Perrone I'd immediately give their opinions some weight.

What the hell is going on in here. I love 80s REM. Their first 5 records are great, especially Murmur and Reckoning. Fell off of loving them as much once I got to the 90s stuff but still a ton of classics in there.

You absolutely cannot have never heard Friday I'm In Love. Love Song, even the 311 version. It's The End Of The World As We Know It. The One I Love. Shiny Happy People.

These songs are played in grocery and department stores all over the country, so unless you're a shut-in who never goes outside, you've heard these songs.

The first time I remember hearing the song “It’s the End of the World as We Know It” was listening to the cover 90s Christian pop group dc Talk did on their live album.
