I assumed taylor fans wore homemade stuff to concerts because they already blew their dough on tickets

i was just being a goof. do whatever you want as long as you’re supporting these bands so they can keep making art instead of having to do some other life sucking occupation

Idk if this is a bad opinion or not but I just thought of this. I'm on that "Record Club" site/app that's basically letterboxd for music and I just blindly followed everyone that rated The Blue Nile's Hats and Mark Hollis's Self Titled. Basically, I can safely bet that I will agree with/at least respect the opinion of people who enjoy those albums. I already went through some of their lists and added albums that are their favorites that I've never heard. What albums are like that for you?

    EDIT:
To be clear, I feel like it needs to be a smaller/niche album to narrow down the amount of listeners. I really like Goodness by the Hotelier as well, but more people have listened to that and I know a lot of fans of that album are fans of things I don't dig.

Fuck good question. Feel like Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout, Love Deluxe by Sade, Inlet by Hum are all answers for me

I don't know about specific albums, but anyone who can appreciate nu-metal and post-grunge are alright with me.

Butch Walker's Letters is the answer to that question that comes to mind for me. If you like that album, we're probably going to be friends.

It’s weird because neither of them are my “favorite” album or one that I grew up loving. There are plenty of people whose taste I probably wouldn’t mesh with who love something like Dude Ranch or Stay What You Are or even Illmatic. There’s just something about using The Blue Nile/Mark Hollis as a guidepoint that has yet to lead me astray. I’ll occasionally search Twitter for those artists/albums and look for album lists and they’ve lead me to some really incredible stuff

I think with stuff that’s more “niche” like that you’re gonna have a higher level of overlap than like Blink or Nas who my parents are probably aware of

  20. Reconstruction Site for me. It does feel silly to just use my favorite album, but I can’t imagine someone else who has found and loves the Weakerthans not having a decent amount of overlapping taste with me.

    run away with me Platinum

    Separation Sunday maybe

I discovered a lot of bands similarly by doing my favorite artists' favorite artists, like there's clearly a reason The Replacements inspired so many bands

    two related opinions:

The Cure are not an "album band" until Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
R.E.M. are not an "album band" until Green

perfectly content with best-of singles up until those points

    hmmm

Not only do I disagree with that first one but I think that The Cure's best albums are pre-Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.

Beat that for a bad opinion.
