I listened to Something/Anything? for the first time recently and was pretty impressed with it, some really cool stuff on there

 

i mean, i like bruce a lot and he has the better catalog. just think bat out of hell is up there with the top of bruce’s but people treat meat loaf like a joke. much like the tc tuggers, it’s not a joke.

 

One of the best double albums of all time and not necessarily accurately rated in that tier.

The big problem for Meat is he never came remotely close to it again. And this from a lifelong apologist for Bat Out of Hell II and Welcome to the Neighborhood

 

I think we can both agree the final track can disappear though haha, that did not age well

 

I’ve always thought it was pretty tongue-in-cheek, myself. Just a little smarmy rocker trying to push some buttons. I can’t see taking a song that loose with the chorus hook “She may be a slut but she looks good to me” even a little bit seriously. Haha

Who thinks Meat Loaf is a joke? What kind of jaded fuck do you have to be?

 

I was about 10 when I’d Do Anything For Love came out. It was one the first song I remember actively disliking. That and Ride on Time by Black Box. I like that song now, though. I still don’t like Meat Loaf. I can’t take him seriously.

I preferred his stuff as Robert Paulson.

 

IMO The Who is as lame and dorky as Rush but Rush leans into it and has got a ton of real jams

 

Change the name of the thread back, we now have people sharing opinions about non-music stuff, for which we have another thread
