The first two Avril singles are bangers. I don't think anyone is going to argue that with you, even my death metal laden ass.

 

I really like most of her first two albums, does that count as an unpopular opinion?

 

I think Avril has more good albums than bad albums

 

I will argue for Let Go until I'm dead in the earth.

 

I don't think this is a bad opinion, but I wouldn't say it in the album thread.... 100 gecs would be infinitely better if the vocals weren't vocoded the entire time. A clean singing voice over the hectic music would make for a much more interesting album

 

I actually gave them a shot after seeing all the hype the album thread was getting and holy fuck. The vocals were just pure audio abortion.

 

gecs album is fantastic and it would not be nearly as good if the vocals didn’t sound exactly the way they do

 

Conceptually, sure I get it, but in practice it just sounds bad to constantly have the effects. You look at someone like Charli XCX, she has perfected the art of using vocal effects sparingly and in really effective and smart ways. When you do it an entire album, it loses any sort of interesting addition

 

the autotune is like 90% of the point and what makes them unique lol. Dylan got gigs doing autotune for rappers' albums off that

 

Feel like that would make them a slightly more hectic Sleigh Bells.

 

unique does not equal great. They could fart every lyric and it would certainly be unique!

the vocal effects work so well on that album. honestly can't imagine most of it working with standard singing.

 

The Modern Baseball/Front Bottoms talk-sing thing is excruciating.

 

i don't hate 100 gecs but they're extremely not for me

 

I don't care about other bands because I've gone back to the first two Armor For Sleep records after their recent tour announcement and I think I'm just going to mope around, listening to them till summer.

 

since it has already been brought up, i find 100gecs incredibly obnoxious and do not see the appeal

 

They're definitely a divisive. If this was a decade ago, I feel like I would try to dunk on them like AP used to do with crabcore music, etc. But I've come around to them. My friends think they're absolute garbage.

 

I have no idea who 100 gecs are, where should I start?
