    this is all there is

I respect your bad opinion that saying things are mid is not an accurate way to describe a lot of things. I think it's totally acceptable in the right context of a short-form opinion of something that is of average, middle of the pack quality.

    Arby's is mid.
the Accord I drive is mid.
    Knuckle Puck are mid.

It is obvious what mid should mean but people are overusing it, and using it to mean things it was never intended to mean, like awful.

It’s exactly that, it’s just meh, I saw a video of them performing a new song to a humongous crowd and people were going nuts! It was just the band going “ooo ooo ooo, it’s never enough!, it’s never enough!” Everyone was stage diving, and it just sounded liked the most generic shit ever. I really like the first couple records though.

I saw them during the 2023 blink 182 tour and really enjoyed them. They’re like if 311 didn’t suck.

using slang because you work with kids and it slips into your vocabulary is fine, intentionally using slang to sound cool means you might be a dork.

mid originated as slang for mid weed, the issue isn’t so much overuse (it is overused), its that people use it to mean something that’s horrendous which is simply not the meaning lol

Gotta disagree. Language is fun. Some slang is dumb. Some is enjoyable. Just don't be all try hard about it but being playful with language has never hurt and usually helped my rapport with my students. I'm particularly fond of "cooked" fully encompassing its own antonym

    forbidden chalice.

mid, cooked, and other modern slang are fine terms regardless of age. if you engage in online spaces at all, say this forum, or something like twitter, i don’t think it would be hard to believe that type of vernacular could slip into your vocabulary by proxy. it’s everywhere. i dont think it has anything to do with people trying hard to fit in. words are fun and sometimes the right sentiment hits your brain in a funny way that sticks.

that being said, i’m 28, so i’m still within/near the demographic that would/could say it without raising eyebrows. hell, i used “cooked” in person to my roommate today. it is what it is.
