I'd kick it to the next John Carney movie, because I really like "Go Now" from Sing Street, but that's the same basic idea: a song he sings really well that a more talented songwriter wrote.
Logged into Twitter for the first time in awhile and yeah, was bombarded by “worst song takes” because someone retweeted a Tiny Desk video of Edward Sharpe singing “Home”. Like, that’s not a bad song at all. And so many takes were terrible. We all know the worst song is “All About That Bass.”
This is true. I just don’t want to use the energy and time it would take to rank all of Meghan Trainor’s worst songs, so I just default to “All About That Bass”.
Edward Sharpe definitely not a great band but a wild choice to start this discourse. Also just not what I think of when I think of stomp clap
I don’t think I know what an Edward Sharpe is? Also, the Nickelback songs mentioned are trashy but kinda fun. Whatever. Certainly more tolerable to me than AJR or whatever.
Ok fine, I’ll look it up. … Oh yeah, this song? I kinda remember it. Something something Arkansas, something love my ma and pa. I also remember there being a group called “magnetic zeroes” or whatever. Idk, it’s fine I guess? Incapable of having a strong opinion of it.
that song being included on a million tiktoks and instagram reels is more annoying than the song itself
I don't know any AJR songs well enough to nominate a specific one. I'm fine with them simply being the worst opener I ever had to sit through.
There was a specific AJR song about playing a violin or something that my sister would play in the car, that stood out as annoying. Everything else I was exposed to from them blended together into an amorphous blob of nothing music, but in an annoying way instead of ambivalence.
