Yeah I’d say that’s novelty. I hate Venus by Bananarama, maybe because it was always in the razor commercials
Actually I heard a song in Kohls last year that was so bad I had to look it up. It’s not by the Stray Cats but it was similar, I think. Maybe a british rockabillyish band from the 80s? I can’t remember, but that’s my answer
A guy drove by me yesterday on one of those weird tricycle motorcycle things smoking a cigar and blasting mambo #5
I have to listen to the radio a lot for work and there are some songs that can play a lot and never bug me. But then there's some that for reasons I am not even conscious of or able to articulate my brain just hates them after a while When Heat Waves was a big song it drove me nuts The Hozier whiskey song drives me nuts too And the Gaga and Bruno duet even tho I enjoy them both individually
There are some songs in this discussion that I quite enjoy, but I'mma keep that to myself. My Hall of Shame probably includes: Fergie - "London Bridge" Puddle of Mudd - "She Hates Me" Katy Perry - "Peacock" Ke$ha - "Dinosaur" Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - "Face Down" Andy Grammer - "Honey I'm Good" Nickelback - "Figured You Out" Santa Fe - "Sad Days" Maroon 5 - "Sugar" Paul Anka - "You're Having My Baby"
There's often a point when I suddenly get nostalgic for formerly overplayed hits. When it comes to the early 2010s, I think of Call Me Maybe, Somebody That I Used To Know, Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris x Florence Welch and many others. I don't even mind Happy! But if I hear one second of We Are Young and the other singles from fun's Some Nights, my fight or flight response still gets triggered. A nightmare
I knew you’d come through with “She Hates Me.” I thought of “Sugar” after I made my post. Definitely also on my list. The moment where I fully checked out on that band.
because most Christmas music is corporate but they literally were like hey rock music is a craze Christmas music is a craze let's combine them; also wtf is a jingle horse it is catchy though
I feel like Christmas music belongs in a different category. Like, I hate "The 12 Days of Christmas," but it never pops into my brain when talking about my least favorite songs.
Just fucking gross. And somehow made worse by people trying to compare it to goddamn Prince. I know that Santa Fe album is a deeeeeeep cut, but my Dad has always used that album as shorthand for terrible records since he heard it in '71 and he is correct. Haha Not to get too granular, but Hank Garland's guitar playing on it is nice, too.
I liked them more with their older material (Curb, The State, Silver Side Up) but every once in a while they show traces of that old band, which I appreciate.
The song I listed is sexist trash. Even if you defend them overall, I'm giving the side-eye to anyone who defends that song.
