Jay-Z would be the only hip hop artist that comes close. I have him with 3 "classics"

Kendrick has 1 but I am being forced to include GKMC so 2
    Drake has 1
    Nas has 1.5
    Ghostface has 2

American Gangster is great, but I don't think it is a classic. I'm out on 4:44

4:44 is pretty solid for late career but idk if I’d say classic

i feel like time has been very kind reputationally to 4:44 vs when it was released because its such an archetypal dad rap album for the mainstream

and then subjectively it also i think has his best set of songs lol

I'd give Outkast the middle 3 as classics.
Wayne has 2 (maybe 3 if i'm giving it to Carter II as well but I don't think I am)
    Tribe has 3

how are we feeling about the roots in this discussion

I haven't done a Roots listen in a long time but they at the very least have 1 in Things Fall Apart.

I think they have 3 if you include Do You Want More and Phrenology but that’s just me. I’m sure people would consider Game Theory in there.

me personally id go things fall apart / game theory / undun which gives em 1 in each decade of activity but ik people rank illadelph halflife and do you want more up there similarly

The two most recent Roots albums are actually my favorites, I like the whole genre-less experimental phase they got to

i actually agree with this lol, i only wouldnt raise and then you shoot your cousin as a classic because it reputation is so polarizing, but its personally an all timer for me

Same. Though I’d say the Beastie Boys probably have 3 too?

I think the Roots has many amazing albums but they’re not all classics

The Beatles have plenty to fit the prompt, if you're looking outside hip hop

The Cure are a pretty obvious answer. Minus The Bear are pretty close, if not there already, depending on the length requirement of an album haha

    heres one

u2 - boy, war, the unforgettable fire, the joshua tree, achtung baby

reputationally you could also say all that you cant leave behind but that album is pretty bad lol

  24. sticking to “studio” (most of the electric era ones are hybrid):

    Live-Evil
    In a Silent Way
    Jack Johnson
    Bitches Brew
    E.S.P.
    Nefertiti
    Sketches of Spain
    Porgy & Bess
    Miles in the Sky
    On the Corner
    Kind of Blue
    Files de Kilimanjaro
    Sorcerer
    Get Up With It
    Milestones
    Miles Ahead
    Birth of the Cool

could comfortably claim several more as classics tbh

  25. iCarly Rae Jepsen

    run away with me Platinum

Talking Heads maybe , for sure if you include Tom Tom Club and David solo
