This is a problem I have with a lot of grunge hits that are played incessantly. They’re still great songs but I never feel the need to listen to them because of how many times I’ve heard them on the radio.
When I worked for Office Max back in the day, I would hear tons of 90s pop rock and singer-songwriter hits all the time. It was pretty sweet.
Not reading the replies but Springsteen, Dylan all have 5 pretty easily. I'd argue that Bruce has 5 in a row.
I think it’s really important to remember that we are using platforms like that with a lot of 15-17 year olds
To be fair I think that tweet is about rap albums, and a classic is more than just good or even great album (even though the term has been used a little too often and quickly in the last 15 years if you ask me). I might be missing an obvious artist right this moment but I think it might just totally be a true tweet. Five is also a high bar though.
I don’t think so. I think those are 5 arguably great albums. I don’t think Graduation for example is a classic. But that’s me.
I think Graduation counts, as does Yeezus. I forget if I posted about this, but apparently the youth today views Graduation as the one true Kanye "classic". When I do album presentations in my class, multiple kids have chosen Graduation as the Kanye album to present
Is Late Registration a classic or just a more refined but ultimately less significant (because he did if before) version of College Dropout?
It's definitely a different kind of record, more live music/strings based compared to the chipmunk soul of TCD.
dylan for sure. would also throw sabbaths first 6 and yes's run from yes album through going for the one up there too
also i revisited the rolling stones's late period recently (which is already a questionable choice lmao obligatory fuck those losers) and have realized i have the very bad opinion of thinking dirty work is their best album post tattoo you
