my bad gaslight anthem opinion is that history books and get hurt are their best albums and that 59 sound and handwritten have the least replay value for me generally i think brian makes better music outside of the band though. elsie gang forever, and his first two solos are better than most tga too
Never listened to them. Remember I moved to so cal for a bit and the “see you on the flip side…” song was all over the radio. I didn’t get it
American Slang is the only TGA album from their first five that I don’t care for much, apart from a couple tracks. Still haven’t gotten around to checking out History Books Elsie is a really good record but I’ve never understood the degree of hype for it
Feel like stirring the pot today with one I've probably posted before: Captain We're Sinking's The Future is Cancelled is better than any album The Menzingers have ever put out.
Definitely good and underrated, but I think the Menzingers best 2-3 clear it. Now the Holy Mess? Maybe
I haven’t listened to that Captain album in 10+ years, have a hard time believing it’s better than On The Impossible Past. Saw both those bands on a boat once, which made the band name extra funny
The menzingers are one of those bands that have a very narrow range of sounds. They're good at one thing, but it's kinda all they do and for me it just gets really old really quick
I think OTIP has incredible highs and extremely low lows. I'd probably put The Future Is Canceled in the middle of the Menzingers discography if I was ranking the two bands together. No way it touches After the Party, Rented World, or probably even Chamberlain Waits for me.
very good way of putting it after the party is their only remotely complete album for me but i think hello exile is generally better than people gave it credit. new one was an absolute snore though. think their best release is prob their 2009 ep
Fired up some gaslight recently after falling off like 10+ years ago. Was not rocking with it at all.
Easily for me. I think Adultery, Lake and A Bitter Divorce are all better than any Menzingers song, but I'm not exactly a big fan of them. I also think Captain We're Sinking would be a much better band if Bobby was the only vocalist.
Not sure I listened to them but when I think about that early 2010s era, Hostage Calm deserved much more recognition
If we're talking the worst opinions from the last thread, I'll nominate the one that really sticks in my brain, which was the person who said the only reason anyone ever liked the band Bloc Party was because of white guilt.
