stomp clap, or emo for blacksmiths as I like to call it, is bad. everything that came out of it is also bad
That guy being called “Hobo Johnson” makes so much sense, unfortunately. I’m sure the most annoying suburban white boys around think he’s great.
Cut Me Up Jenny is fine. Probably worst thing on New Again but doesn't bother me as much as some songs on S/T or Tidal Wave. I'd say 152 is their worst since its so fucking boring.
Was hobo Johnson the one who knowingly gave someone an std or was that Mac Demarco or am I making it all up
I had heard his name from the Accountability thread, but never heard his music before seeing that tweet. Genuinely think that clip may be worse than any song mentioned here in the last week
I think that was Hobo, Mac taped his friend jacking off at a house party or something like that I get confusing them because both of them make shitty music
Went looking into this and all I could find was talk about someone making the accusation on behalf of their friend and then their friend said it wasn't true. Hard to confirm because the actual tweets involved are gone so any info is second hand.
This is a great answer but for like any song on guitar hero. Back before you could download extra song packs and it was just the same songs. Once in a while I'll hear one of those songs in the wild and I have a visceral reaction and realize it was on guitar hero. Not every song on there but a lot of them! Or back when ringtones were very important and a big decision I'd have songs be my alarm tone and I had to stop so I wouldn't grow to hate those songs
When I’m on the apps, the biggest musical red flags that almost always pop up are Morgan Wallen and Chris Brown, but whatever, they’re popular. I never voluntarily listen to them, but they’re tough to escape. If they like Hobo Johnson, that’s just unforgivable.
The scene that most people came to Chorus/AP for has made FAR more heinous music than any stomp clap song I’ve ever heard. Design The Skyline. Brokencyde. Cute Is What We Aim For. Forever The Sickest Kids. Asking Alexandria. Attila. Emure. Home is a decent song, but I’d listen to the very worst stomp clap music for a day straight before I’d subject myself to any of that shit again.
Wasn’t there a former staff member who was the only one to cover all of these bands? The comment sections were… fun lol
Yeah those bands definitely weren't what *most* people initially came to AP for lol. Pop punk was far more predominent. Not that most of that was so much "better," but still
I was talking about the general Warped Tour scene as opposed to one subgenre, but if we want to be that specific, I mentioned Forever The Sickest Kids & Cute Is What We Aim For who are pop punk. But my point stands lol.
