Speaking of Yoko, this gem from Jay-Z in the Timberlake song "Murder" absolutely has to be on the "shittiest features" shortlist.

I like features because, besides duets being awesome and some features transforming a song, I also think it adds an element of brotherhood to a particular scene.

I've noticed a bunch of small-time post-grunge bands like Art Of Dying, The Veer Union, and Adelitas Way doing that in recent years, and I think it's nice that they're all making songs together.

 

A couple that come to mind as favorites:

Linda Ronstadt on "Empty-Handed Heart" by Warren Zevon
Joni Mitchell on "Nexus" by Dan Fogelberg
Elvis Costello on "What a Catch, Donnie" by Fall Out Boy
Marianne Faithful on "The Memory Remains" by Metallica

 

My favorite absolutely out of nowhere feature is the vocalist of Blue October on the closing track of one of the solo albums from the former vocalist of Nightwish.

Like, how did their paths even cross, lol.

 

His verse on Wyclef’s “Sweetest Girl” is great and surprisingly emotional.

 

and somehow Will.i.am’s verse on JT’s Damn Girl is even worse haha
