The other day a newer Brand new song came on Spotify and I thought it was modest mouse. I only listen to Deja sometimes so I didn't really know what they sounded like now

 

Was it "Out of Range"

Idk the only Brand New I ever care to listen to anymore are TDAG and the demos

 

I have no idea tbh. Popped up on some playlist. I knew they didn't sound like Deja anymore but I guess I didn't know what they sounded like haha

 

Sonny Moore's Gypsyhook EP is fucking cool.

what the hell is wrong with Housebroken?

 

What's right with it?

 

It's not a bad song imo, but it's the weakest on the album and people have addressed more personal reasons why they're not ok with it re: abuse. Christian said he was gonna stop playing it, not sure if he still does now though.

 

Housebroken is one of the strongest songs on the album melodically and the weakest lyrically.

Last I heard they only play it on full album sets and they give a heads up.

 

I've seen a few people say Housebroken is good musically/melodically and bad lyrically but even if it had good lyrics I still think it'd be the worst song on the album by a considerable margin. I think the melodies and music and the way it's sung are all super boring.

 

It's between Housebroken and Life in Drag for me. Dendron and Introduction are the best on the album and their best overall. The emotion of those songs is just unreal.

 

Christian played it at a show at UNH back in November. Don't know if anything has changed since then.

 

Life in Drag is one of my favourites. I love that song so much, easily one of the best if we're ignoring lyrics. I agree that Dendron and Intro are the two clear best on there though.

 

ya it was always the least interesting to me. musically it's a nice comedown from life in a drag and it sets up the last two songs well, kinda lets you take a breath before dendron punches you in the gut emotionally, haha.

 

That's exactly why I think it works so well. Musically, it's a rare moment of calm on that record. Among the Wildflowers is probably my favorite though.

The early November is, not even close, the best pop punk/emo band to release music when that music style blew up in the early 00s

Seriously though The Room's Too Cold is something else. I never thought this before but now that im 26 and revisiting the music that got me into music, I might like that record even more than Deja Entendu. It's just so original both instrumentally and lyrically.

 

The Early November isn't that great.

 

Knowing your music tastes, I totally see why you don't like them. But you have to know also.also . why I love them.

TEN is pretty good and deserving of more praise around here tbh
