Diamond Eyes > White Pony > Koi No Yokan > Saturday Night Wrist > Deftones > Around The Fur > Ohms > Adrenaline > Gore

No bad ones even if the lower ones I don’t visit as much

I'll have to go back and listen to Adrenaline because I can't remember anything from it. The run from ATF - KNY is goated tho.

imo KNY’s strongest asset is its very distinct vibe/atmosphere, I do really love that about it and for a while it was in my top 3 records by the band. but with time I do feel that the songwriting across the album is a bit spotty in parts and falls back on the atmosphere to do a bulk of the heavy lifting. although the highs are some of the best of their career (especially their later career), the lows just make the album kinda drag for me in the back half. they’re not so bad as to be among their worst songs but they certainly feel half-baked to me. they all have cool ideas in them, to be fair, but they fail to come together to make an interesting whole. in all honesty, it’s mostly Chino’s performances that hold the songs I am cooler on back. still it’s probably my second favorite Sergio-era record.

    hmmm

The only fault with Koi is that Goon Squad hangs around about a minute past its welcome. The drop at 4 minutes is knockout great. A Street Carp-level restraint with a Street Carp fade-out, that riff disappearing into the distance, would have been badass.

I barely blame Sleep Token for ripping off that riff.

My biggest gripe with DE going forward is the lack of Chi’s playing, which I felt perfectly synced with Abe’s drumming and elevated those songs.

  11. I can get that, even though Sergio did step up on Ohms but alas his time was cut short

Darkness or Nebraska is my fave depending on the day. My unpopular opinion is I like Tunnel of Love more than Born to Run also. One Step Up is just too good!

I'm boring and think Born to Run is easily his best. Well from what I've heard. Did not like Darkness much when I listened to it but should probably try it again since it's been a long time.

You know what? Christina aguilera is underrated even tho she's been phoning it in since bionic flopped

The run in stripped from the first track through fighter is so iconic. The transition from walk away to fighter specifically is unparalleled. A coming of age album with her grappling abusive relationships and finding identity and empowerment and feminism really got written off as just another racy popstar trying to revamp and be edgy

And Bionic is underrated. I said what I said.

The news post about Hey Violet just makes me think about how I liked them when they were called Cherri Bomb and had an alternative/post-grunge vibe. Wish they'd stuck with that.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in years. A friend of mine from high school briefly befriended them on Tumblr back when they were Cherri Bomb. I think from what he told me a while back was the one member he was closest too left around the time they changed their name.

I wish we had more artists willing to openly push back against the parasocial and generally not healthy relationship online fandoms have to artists (h/t to doja cat on this and only this score)
