Autobiography is absolutely amazing

 

The best Miley Cyrus album is Autobiography by Ashlee Simpson

 

I remember when she first dropped. I thought it was pretty good, but it also felt about as industry plant as it got to me. I’m not saying it actually was, but the rollout definitely made it seem that way (or music media did).

 

I guess in hindsight the musical siblings of pop superstars in the 00s got a raw deal, as weird as that sounds lol

 

Pieces of Me is the song

 

Second and third albums felt way more industry, the first one is super raw and not as mainstream pop

 

it is weird how many there are and how Solange and Metro Station would both count

Looking back now, Ashlee was def manufactured but I related to her so much as a kid. I had an older more popular "prettier" sister and I felt like the ugly duckling emo outcast sister but I hadn't explored a ton outside of pop yet so she was edgy but like in a safe way for an 11 year old lol and then in the next year or two I was pretty fully submerged into punk music. But I'll always have a soft spot. I'd be lying if I said I didn't ugly sing to Shadow one too many times. But the album still holds up

But yeah launching her TV show leading up to the debut album and her convenient relationship with Ryan Cabrera unfolding on the show while also promoting his video and career was very strategic but as a kid I ate it all up. And that Ryan Cabrera album was good too tbh!

Pieces Of Me may be my most hated song ever. It's top 5 for sure
