I’ve seen her twice this year, once at her own (all ages show) and another at Primavera LA. First show was like you described , but at the festival the under 21 section was actually off to the side of the screen so all of that stuff was happening far away from the stage. The 21+ section (most of the venue!) was super chill. Definitely the ideal way to see Mitski lol. It was interesting seeing a sea of phones recording off to the side and none in the main area

 

Green Day is a much better band than Blink-182 which I realize isn't generally controversial but around these parts it gets people riled up.

yeah this is why I won’t go see Phoebe again. That and people just talking loudly through her entire set.

 

+1 for the "not getting Mitski" club, just doesn't do it for me

 

I like mitski but I think even she's had to speak out about her own fans at shows. I've never seen her but it's sounds intense.

 

Yeah, the "Run me over with a truck, Mitski!" style fandom is super weird.

 

When I saw her, there were lots of fans yelling / calling her “mommy”, which is very odd, especially as it was in the UK, so that’s not even a word we’d ever use here in the first place. Just super weird vibes.

 

Green Day is fine and probably wins on the quantity of above average material argument, but if forced to pick between saving every second of music that band ever recorded or just Dude Ranch I’m taking the latter without thinking twice about it.

 

I've had A Decade Under The Influence stuck in my head the past two days and I can never get past the bridge when I try to listen to it.

 

Would say the exact same thing, but subbing Blink in for Green Day and American Idiot in for Dude Ranch.

I have always wanted to know the backstory behind a comment that the owner of Don Giovanni records posted on Reddit several years ago. It was after she left the label and Bury Me at Makeout Creek was re-released on her next label and someone asked him about it, and he replied, “I’m not sure I am legally allowed to know what a Mitski is.”

 

Seeing her in a sold out club after Puberty 2 was perfect

yeah, catching her on that tour was incredible. Can’t deny that the crowd was different on the Be The Cowboy show

 

Idk if this fits in here but:
I started Meet Me in the Bathroom (book) and I'm only a few pages in and it's fucking insufferable haha. Just the most cliche corny "New York is magical" shit. "I turned the radio off when I was eleven and never turned it on again." C'mon

 

Every Metallica album is good, and I'm tired of people pretending they're not.

i guess my bad metallica opinion is that they might suck after the black album, but lars more often than not has been right with a lot of his takes

 

In all honesty if they stopped after the Black album I would have been happy with that discography. Everything after is varying levels of dog shit (St. Anger) to decent (Hardwired).

I got about 2/3 through a couple years ago and finally stopped. The NY is magical stuff was a bit annoying, but ultimately it was that almost everyone in the book came off as a gigantic asshole that finally killed it for me haha. It was such an interesting read until I realized I was legitimately starting to root against all these bands I like.
