Did the US get a shit ton of indie landfill bands during the 2000’s too?

God awful bands like The Kooks, Scouting For Girls, Pidgeon Detectives? Just truly creatively bankrupt crap usually made popular by each band having one singular good song.

Indie landfill bands is such a good description of how I remember getting my ears mauled between 2004 and 2009. The Bravery anyone?

do y’all ever get a day where you don’t throw out your back from trying so hard, seems exhausting

a lot of those bands got big because they had a few great songs. it isn’t that complicated or unique lol

Guessing this is in reference to what I put, but I defy anyone to find me multiple genuinely good Pidgeon Detective songs.

It isn't me "trying hard", it's a scene that genuinely destroyed guitar music in the UK mainstream media for a long time. Sorry if you're like the bass player in the Hoosiers or whatever and didn't like me posting an opinion in an opinion thread lol.

No one's trying too hard – the British landfill indie (as it's often referred to) of the mid-00s really was, without much exception, absolutely fucking terrible. I try not to hate much music now because it's a waste of energy but I make an exception for that time. The last memories of music TV channels being a thing here was those bands being on all the time. That was the mainstream representation of guitar music in the UK at that time.

If that’s considered landfill indie then beep beep back that dumptruck to my apartment because I love it.

That one Razorlight album had some bangers. Had the first Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs CDs even I was in middle school

These are two of the most therapeutic messages I've seen on this site. The minute that British media can peddle guitar based music with no distortion and no edge, nothing else gets a look in. It's really strange when you consider how well supported heavy music is in this country and then compare it to how it's handled abroad. The US and Germany were real eye openers for me in that regard.

Oh yeah there were definitely some great bands in that period. The Strokes in particular were brilliant.
