What is there to “get” about Turnstile lol

 

The hype. I don't think they're bad by any means. I'm just not seeing the transformative experience which so many people seem to be experiencing.

Well that's me told.

 

Glow On is awesome but there is like a solid 40% of me that pictures it mixed more like a garage record than an arena punk record and I’m not sure that wouldn’t rule

 

I haven't connected with Glow On yet but I saw a tiktok of their live show and it looked fun so good for them.

 

Hungry Eyes is a top 10 song of all time.

I'm not a Turnstile fan (or at least didn't connect with Glow On like a lot of folks have) but I think "getting" a musician or band is silly, unless they are a band with a gimmick or something. If they are not that, then you just don't like them. When people say they don't get a band (I've had people say this to me before about Big Thief and Radiohead) I'm like...okay, are you angry that you can't get into a band that a lot of people like and need to make some public "I don't get it" post that usually is also subtly also implying that the music in question is inherently bad? What is the point?

Late reply and I dunno if that made any sense but anyways. Yeah.

I don’t get this is great in that not many other phrases can more effectively run the entire spectrum between ‘I genuinely have fomo that everyone likes something that doesn’t move me’ and ‘everyone else is wrong this thing’s butt’

I 100% didn’t “get” Talk Talk until the past year. Now I do and it’s all I can listen to

 

When people say “I don’t get it” I take that has talking down on something not “I’m really missing out I wish I liked this!”
