I will say, I do still think Night Visions is a good album but it may be the nostalgia talking. Beyond that is a wet fart.

This is absolutely a bad opinion on here buuuuut

I do not like/cannot get into MewithoutYou. I’ve tried them on record, even saw them live, but they just don’t sound appealing much at all. I haven’t done a full discography run through because I’ve been put off by what I’ve heard, but maybe doing that will change my current opinion.

Eh if you don’t like em you don’t like em. I don’t see any point in trying to force yourself to.

I like the Cure’s pop songs more than their slow brooding songs

I’ve had some difficulty getting into mwY but “Paper Hanger” is an undeniable banger

As a pretty big Cure fan, 100%. I view them as a pop band

  11. I couldn’t get into mwY either, until they released “Julia” from untitled. Not sure what happened, but they finally just clicked for me. I fell in love with the untitled LP and EP then went back and relistened to their discography and they’ve been one of my favourite bands ever since. I still don’t love It’s All Crazy, despite some of the tracks being all-timers for me. Maybe they’ll click for you, maybe they won’t. At least you gave them an honest go!

Never feel bad for giving something an honest chance and not liking it. That’s all you can do. Nothing saying you can’t circle back to it someday and try again if you think you’re missing something.

Some of the best music I know didn’t click with me the first time I heard it

I knew a guy in college who confidently asserted that if a song didn’t click with him on the first listen, then it wasn’t actually “good.” If he ended up liking it after subsequent listens, it was only because it had somehow conditioned him into finding it acceptable, or I guess he had to convince himself that he actually liked it, or something like that. Real dumb shit

I frequently write and then don't send posts in this thread, usually because they would just contribute to the "Yes it is/No it isn't" back and forth.

So my thoughts on OML and Linkin Park in general may as well come into that category too.

Was there a deleted post before the Linkin Park talk started or was it a weird transition lol

I actually do have a hot take for this thread though, I think they get more interesting after Meteora. A Thousand Suns is my favorite album by them

Metro Station - Kelsey just randomly played from a playlist I was listening to of that era of music and ngl, I enjoyed it.

I feel like that very much fits here. Bad opinion and i know it.

That song specifically is just a really good pop song. Check out the acoustic version if you haven't yet

Justin Pierre and Joshua Cain from Motion City Soundtrack produced that and you can hear Justin's vocals in their background vocals. It's when they say "And you never ever let me in" you can hear Justin saying "let me in".

It's funny because Josh and Justin actually talked about that experience recently on Josh's twitch stream while they were eating salads together! Check it out, it was pretty interesting. They also talk about a real bad experience Justin had with one of their producers for an MCS album.
