I can undeniably say that Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc are bigger hits to people my age than Wonderwall

Look at Gorillaz threads on this site, look at the headlining festivals all over the world, look... Anywhere?

Yeah, that’s weird. Gorillaz are widely respected everywhere.

I know they're popular, they've been around 20 years. I'm just saying I don't think I'd ever expect someone who listens to as much music as you do to say that they are better than... any of the bands you said they were better than.

Demon Dayz and Plastic Beach are legitimately great albums. The others are hit or miss though. I’m a fan overall.

I don't even dislike them! I just think it's wild to ride this hard for a band who put out their best album (which still was nowhere near perfect or even great) almost 20 years ago

As mentioned, I know Radiohead is a better band, my rankings weren't better band rankings, but Steve rankings

Going to bed, can't wait to catch up in the morning.

I've also never listened to a full Radiohead album for the same reason I haven't watched The Office or Hamilton

People listen to whole ass oasis and blur albums? Like with their undivided attention?

What’s with this dumb attitude that an album being “old” is a bad thing?

“Empire Ants” still sounds fresh as fuck and great.

  14. Ok here goes:

Good Charlotte’s Young and the Hopeless album holds up as much, if not more, than most pop punk albums from that time period. I was 9 when it came out and found out later that they weren’t the Cool Punks I thought they were at the time. But the amount of hooks on that record is nuts and I’d take them toe to toe against pretty much any other band in that era.

I guess the Bad Music Opinion is I’d rather listen to (and have infinite my nostalgia tied to that may cloud my opinion) Good Charlotte than blink.

    Where did I say that?

  16. Dinosaurs Dish

I didn’t say you specifically said that but it’s been implied quite a bit by some people the last few pages. Even bringing up that their “best” album was 20 years ago, like, what does that matter?

White Pony was 20 years ago, too.

It just adds to my surprise at how fervent the fandom for the band is, lol. I hadn't really thought of them since Plastic Beach came out and kinda stunk. I am legitimately surprised that many people on here fuck with them so much. Good for them!

genuinely baffling how every negative thing about the band comes down to “liam/noel are the biggest tools in the world”

y’all listen to music, ever? nah? perhaps give it a try

Shit actually I forgot about Ascension, that song is dope! Lol, did I like that Gorillaz album?

Ah, gotcha. I don’t keep up with what’s going on in pop culture as far as music goes but it seems they have a super dedicated “underground” following. And they works with a lot of diverse and well respected musicians so anyone going hard for them here doesn’t surprise me at all.

like. this is genuinely false lol. i give you credit for actually trying to engage with the actual music but .... listen to supersonic followed by fuckin in the bushes followed by falling down and tell me again that there’s no expansion lol

    like what???

the best gorillaz songs don’t even engage with rap, really. on melancholy hill rules!!!

it wouldn’t be a top 25 oasis song

Haven’t listened to gorillaz in forever

In my attempt to get back into them, I’m deciding to start my discography run with the one they made on iPads
