Brian Johnson overall might be "bad" whatever that means, but Back in Black is their best album

powerage is nearly on the level of aerosmith's rocks for me, just pure excellence in rock music

Same here. Only got Spotify two years ago and it has pretty much changed how I listen to music and my tastes has changed a lot. Everything is just there to listen to. Sure, it’s annoying when something disappears, but it normally comes back. And if I desperately want to listen to it, I’ll download it.

fuck Maynard and all that, but 13th Step is so much better than any other record he’s been a part of for me it’s kinda nuts.

personally, HANE is my least fav since Attack on Memory. AoM and the latest one are my favorites overall. imo, they suffered when they didn’t have a lead guitarist.

I like them so much more as a power pop band than a noisy post hardcore/punk band

The newest left no impression on me, and I can't say the same about any of their other records. I've been meaning to give it another listen.

I love each of their last four but I agree that I generally prefer their more power pop sound. I like their noisy/harsh side too just slightly less. I really love Dylan’s guitar tones on Here and Nowhere Else and Life Without Sound and Jayson is an absolute monster of a drummer. I should say that Here and Nowhere Else is very much a time and place record for me, it’s strongly connected to a lot of good memories. What a great band.

Leave Him Now is one of their best power-pop style songs. The Echo of the World makes me want to run through walls. Dissolution might be my personal favorite example of them foraying into that long jammy song format. the rest is at least very good, if not maybe reaching the same highs of the aforementioned tracks imo, I think their other albums have lower lows.

I studied a ton of AC/DC when I was in high school and every Bon Scott album is better than every Brian Johnson album except Back In Black.

Their albums in the late 80s are weird and bad and a ton of fun. Brian Johnson has some monster singles with them though. Lest we forget Thunderstruck!
