i just noticed this thread existed after being on this site since day one, anyways Pup is a terrible band. this is my unpopular opinion.

 

I wouldn't go as far as terrible, but this resonates a lot. They seem to have so much hype in the scene and when I saw them supporting The Menzingers, the crowd went absolutely nuts. I just don't understand why. It's not an "I hate this", more a "Why does everyone seem to like this?".

It's funny because I love Pup, but I can't get into The Menzingers despite the few times I've tried over the years.

 

I can't connect with most of the scene staples anymore and it's okay, I've accepted that tastes do change. I used to think I'd listen to the same stuff forever.

Never heard of Pup.

 

I saw them for a sec at High Low Fest last year and they weren’t terrible but they also weren’t terribly interesting so I left

 

They're both great but I don't really listen to any of Pup's albums in full the way I do with The Menzingers. They always seem to have crazy energy in any live videos I see from them though

 

Moving Mountains is the best Moving Mountains album.

 

I love Pup but it took a while to get into them aside from DVP

 

Pup is fun stuff. Menzingers is definitely more emotional. Pup is the perfect racing video game music.

Pup are fine, good live. But people are rabid about them, and that part I don't get

 

On the topic of Menzingers, remember when people were sweating when Will Yip got announced as producer for After the Party and it ended up being their best-sounding record

 

Menzingers are fine, but not anything to write home about.
