I don’t really have a dog in the pop punk race, and I’m certainly not here to back up that weird rap comment, but this logic doesn’t really check out to me. It’s not an extremely diverse genre but there are many bands that operate in the pop punk wheelhouse that sound nothing like others doing the same

 

I find Foxing boring for the most part.

 

Peter Pan by Arcade Fire is not bad.

 

Name a pop punk band that sounds nothing like others doing the same who haven't also shed the label

 

Latterman doesn’t sound like Four Year Strong

 

They are a very boring studio band. Their live shows are pretty cool, from what I’ve seen

 

Waterparks are the worst new pop-punk band.

 

If you think that, you're the dumbest fucking person on this website. Do you know how many people have posted abhorrent racist, sexist, and just outright awful things on here?

 

It's really cool to attack someone that you don't know about an in the moment, completely arbitrary opinion on something as subjective as music taste.

 

If I'm going to get attacked and treated like garbage for making a post about stupid fucking pop punk, I'm done with this site. I don't need people treating me poorly over not hating pop punk. People have made horrible arguments about much worse and I'm getting attacked for saying that hating a genre is stupid? Not cool.

 

God, the fact that people are liking that post, agreeing with it, is completely baffling to me. I'll admit that a lot of the hate rap gets is due to ignorant people being racist while pop punk gets hate for other, less serious reasons. That's still no reason to say that my post was the dumbest fucking post on this website.

Did I make any blanket statements about genres? No. Did I make any blanket statement about people? No. Did I defend racist remarks or make any myself? No. Did I defend abusers? No? Than my post was by far not the worst on this site

 

I didn't attack anyone for their opinions, I wasn't rude, I wasn't mean, I wasn't spitefull or hateful. It is one thing to disagree with me, as music is subjective, but it is an entirely different thing to specifically attack me and call my post the dumbest fucking post on this website when you know that it is by far not.

This is why I hate men... they're so aggressive toward people that disagree with them. Over music. Of all things to get aggressive with someone over?

I like pop punk. Not all of it but it's a fun genre.

 

They're right, though. Writing off an entire genre of music is dumb and we've been over that since AP started. Most of you dorks are only associated with this site because of pop punk. Y'all baited them into saying something slightly off base so you could tear into them. We're all better than that, right?

certainly better than anyone in a pop punk band, a bad genre that I used to listen to constantly. although what brought me to hte old site was almost definitely not pop punk but some somehow even worse metalcore like the acacia strain or within the ruins of something

 

I can see where you'd come from saying Foxing is boring. I love them personally and still can't put on either of their records on a whim. I have to be in a very specific mood/head space to be able to really appreciate them on record. Its perfect "Laying in bed alone with the lights down low at midnight during a thunder storm" music for me. Their live sets are incredible though for sure.

 

Foxing is dope as fuck.

 

My unpopular opinion is this:

Coming onto a site where the prevailing genre amongst users is pop punk (or something similar) and baiting people and talking about how you find pop punk so boring or beneath you or whatever, is fucking lame as hell and all of you who do it (and there's a fair few of you) are also lame and boring.

 

I came to this AP because of Saosin, Circa Survive, and Thrice. I used to be very into pop punk for three years or so and I am so grateful to have moved on from that style of music. Pop punk music, and especially the scene, fucking sucks

 

he’s certainly very high up there and might in fact be number one, but this is pretty dismissive of joe strummer, keith richards, pete townshend, etc.
