I've legitimately spent time thinking about whether or not I'd meet xtina if I had the chance. Cause I'd probably ramble and cry and that's awkward af. Part of me is like she must know the positive impact she's made on my life!! And the other part of me is like no sis, she rly doesn't lol.

I've met a couple people I'm a big fan of but I'd never pay for a meet and greet

I def see the allure. I've met some musicians I like in a more organic setting when they're just chilling and it's always nice like a regular convo instead of me feeling like The Fan. But at the same time if ppl really admire like Beyonce or Taylor swift it's not like you're just gonna run into them outside the venue or hanging around. I think it'd be nice to tell a fave what their music means to me but at the end of the day it's another story to add to thousands they hear all the time and they prob just nod graciously and move on so it's kinda pointless?

Except if I met Jonny greenwood I'd just kinda stand there and bask in his presence and hope that somehow one molecule of talent rubbed off on me by proxy.

Yeah paid for meet and greets always seem weird to me too. Same goes for signings, I went to one once and that was well weird, just having to queue there for ages just to have like a minutes convo with the band.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Yeah, never saw the appeal of a meet and greet. I think the closest I've come to something like that is when I bummed Laura Jane Grace a smoke at a show in Detroit.

I never have a good thing to say when I meet someone for free, the money is added pressure. Its basically an expensive photo. But yeah i'd consider it for Ariana Grande.

Yeah, the only meet and greets that I'd pay for would have to have some added component like a soundcheck/acoustic set, but even then I'd have to think on it.

I'm doing Circa Survive's VIP session in December, but it's a lot more than just a meet and greet. For $65 you get to meet them, take a picture together, get a copy of The Amulet on vinyl with a screenprinted cover, get a signed setlist from the show, see a 3 song stripped down set, and receive a digital recording of your show. That's well worth the price for my favorite band of all time.

  14. Tbh a limited vinyl record and exclusive acoustic set could probably be valued at about that price on their own. I could see someone paying that much for this package with or without the meet and greet, almost wouldn't even consider it to be the same thing

I really can't get into anything Julien Baker has done. I listened to Sprained Ankle a number of times, trying to figure out why everyone loves her stuff so much. Not only that, but all my favorite bands love her music too. Then for the, I think, two singles she released for this new album - neither did anything for me. And I've now listened to her new album 2x and can say with confidence that not a single song from her discography stands out to me in any way. Everything bleeds into one long, similar, blah sound.

I listened to the new album yesterday and it did next to nothing for me, but I need to give it a few more shots before I’m ready to write it off because she’s clearly very talented on a technical level. Also, to me this album feels like it was meant to be heard live in order to be fully enjoyed. Just the way her vocals reverberate, it would sound great in a nice venue, I assume.

What do you think about Sprained Ankle if you listened to it? That's the one I tried the most to like (though I still wasn't impressed) and am more familiar with.

I think this new one is more dynamic. I remember some melodies really stuck out but I agree, it’s too one note for me. Kinda like our scenes Lana del Rey?
