Beggars is far and away their best album, but I love Thrice as a whole, Artist onward. Though, I will say, despit their last two efforts each have GOAT songs, but they are not solid albums.

the last album has some really good vocal performances but damn does the sonic approach to it not appeal to me at all

 

Interesting way of looking at it. I can accept this, even though I still don’t like the song.

archers still sucks tho. Remove it from TDAG and you’ve got a perfect album

 

Archers is one of the best in tdag tho

 

There are some definite misteps, Wake Up probably being one of the dumbest songs they’ve ever written. Tracks like Hurricane and Salt and Shadow tho...mmmmmmm

 

Sea Change should have been on the album in place of Wake Up. Would have made for a good change of pace.

 

Wake up and the window aren't very good but the rest of it is great. Maybe my third fav thrice album

 

I know, that’s what everyone says. Hence the unpopular opinion, but I strongly dislike it. I didn’t realize it was so beloved until just last month when I mentioned this in the Science Fiction thread and everyone told me I was crazy. In my circle of friends it’s pretty much accepted that it’s the worst song on the album.

 

dustin kills it on hurricane but it's still pretty close to a dumb rock song imo

 

I love The Window. That's become on of my favorites over time

 

I used to love Beggars, but that raw production did not age well for me.

 

The Window is great. It’s like a heavier version of Radiohead’s “There There”

 

Red Telephone should have replaced Doublespeak.

 

Doublespeak is awesome gtfo. Red Telephone is awesome too tho

Man, I really hate to admit but, as important as that album is to their discography, I can sort of agree with this. Definitely some tracks I skip on there.

As far as deleting Major Minor, it has Anthology, can’t delete it.


Edit: but tracks like Earth Will Shake, Red Sky, and Like Moths to Flame are some of their best

 

I don’t listen to anything pre-Artist. In the eyes of the almighty blakebeats, I am indeed...a poser

 

On the topic of Thrice, All The World Is Mad is one of their best openers

 

I dunno if The Anthology Index has an opener but I’m just gonna pretend it’s Firebreather and call that the best opener

 

I don't think all the world is mad is a particularly good opener actually

 

I mean, of all the tracks on Beggars, it probably makes the most sense as an opener. Not as good as Hurricane or Firebreather tho

 

Yeah I guess I don't know what would make a better opener, I'm just not a fan of that one in that spot
