Sorry, its not that I love Creed that much but I just cant get into La so I can say that about most bands lol. I've seen them live twice and tried their cds but it just sees like noise to me :tear:

:-) Yep! This comment should fix your heart @SpyKi

I can get into MOST of La Dispute's discography. A favorite on this site that I just can't get behind is Say Anything. Same with Manchester Orchestra.

Agree with Say Anything. Its just off pitch singing and talking to bad music with supposed deep lyrics, but again sounds like noise to me. Manchester I could actually never get into on cd either, but saw them live and really liked them.

There is too much angst and metaphors for my liking.

I prefer a songwriter in the vein of Stephan Jenkins from 3eb, who has very direct lyricism, sometimes embarrassingly honest and direct.

That's a good one, but for my money its hard to beat 3 libras.

Exactly. You seem to speak my mind.

Incorrect. THIS is Maynard's best song

I love how this thread cycles into obscure nu-metal discussion every few weeks.

My CD collection in 8th/9th grade could be summed up as "Ozzfest Side Stage 2000-03"

  11. Speaking of Ozzfest, anyone remember Hotwire? I believe they played Ozzfest in 2003 and I was surprised at the time because they seemed more alternative to me than most of the bands on the bill. I randomly thought about them a few months ago and spun their one album. Didn't hate it.

Snot were definitely one of the best bands to come out of the nu-metal scene, such a shame Lynn Strait died so young.

The Routine was sick. Definitely fit in more with bands like Glassjaw and Finch, though

Ah, Finch. They had no much promise.

I think if you take everything Finch has done: 2 great wildly different LPs and 1 ok one, 2 good Eps, an acoustic album, a bunch of b-sides and their unreleased album that Nate uploaded to youtube (which is awesome) they put out a ton of good stuff. Sucks they had so much drama and multiple break ups though.

Chiodos is another one of those bands that I believe could have been awesome, but ultimately would up fading away into obscurity despite having one of the best vocalists in the entire scene.

The live version of Pushit on the Salival DVD is amazing. When I saw Tool in 2007 during their 10,000 days tour, Maynard said "Call us a cover band" and then they went right into Pushit.

I was always fond of his part on Passenger off of White Pony:

I agree to an extent. At least Tim writes from real experiences where Conor tells fiction most of the time.

I think there's merit in both. I just think kasher had a more consistent output (than most musicians I can think of, to be fair)
