flea is a great slap/funk bassist that is put on a pedestal by millions of people who 1) don't actually listen to funk and so they don't realize all the bassists are like that 2) who really don't even pay attention to what the bass does when it's not slapping extremely loud on the higher notes, so they have no frame of reference for what else is impressive

 

thomas erak is the flea of guitarists

 

flea is also shirtless alot. so that helps.
