Who are the pilots in question anyway

 

Still Searching had the insane guitar breakdown in All Cowboys so I knew they had promise. Then the next album started with Lungs Like Gallows. They kept getting better until Thrones.

 

I don't know why that comparison makes any sense, but NOFX are a thousand times worse than Twenty-One Pilots, who have their moments.

 

Is their latest album any good? I never managed to find the time to listen to it last year.

 

The stuff after Still Searching just didn't really have guitar parts that.... I'm gonna use the word flourished to me. They didn't dance off of the rhythm and really stick to me.

Thrones? It's ok. Lyrically its amazing as always. Their talented band took a back seat and Buddy wrote the music and it's just ok.

 

I want the 21P to make the site's EOTY list just for the shit show.

The guitar solo to Wolves at the Gate, the riffs and solo in Lungs like Gallows, the intro to Four Years and Black Out, the lead in the Fire, the shredding in Lifeboats, the lead in Vines. So many others, give them another shot!

i kno my opinion is unpopular

 

maybe... solo or lead? sometimes, yes... an instrumental part is sick, but if it doesn't exactly work off the music then ehhh... or if i just don't like the song, then i just won't care for it no matter what. but i'll give... The Fire a listen.

 

Just the last part lol. The Fire has a lot of songs that have that Waiting Room flavor. It has heavy tracks that show the direction they were heading towards with Renacer but I bet you'd like a lot of the Fire like "Hold On" and "Saint Anthony" if you dug Waiting Room.

renacer's heavy parts just sound so canned to me. like a day to remember. the fire was okay but not great or even that good

 

I'm surprised they have the love they have because Buddy's singing voice is an acquired taste IMO. He can sound terrible sometimes, but gotten better with time. You should give the title track a re listen. The lead in that is awesome, catchy and the breakdown is heavy

 

I think a lot of people are in denial about Buddy's voice including him.

When he came on AP for a Q&A thing I asked him if he thinks his improved screaming has made his singing voice worse and he said his singing voice was much better than ever or something like that.

 

I have never liked them at all. Add on the obnoxiousness of their singer, and it goes from apathy to dislike.

 

I don't trust bands with the following pattern in their name: "Noun and the Adjective-Nouns."

Looking at you, Edward Sharpe, Margot, and Kevin Devine.

 

ehhh it's fine. yes it plays off of the rhythm but it doesn't dance for me.

I do like "Garden State" tho. That little guitar part dances. It grabs me. I wait for that part and then I miss it when it's gone.

 

I don't get the community part of music beyond helping people out and watching people grow. Anything other than feels extra. Which kind why i'm not involved in hardcore like I used to be.
