Towards the end of AP it was frustrating to see the shit you had to deal with. Thinking of 2 different things here but they both happened in the matter of a week

 

you just tend to get taken too seriously when you're being sarcastic as do a lot of people on the internet. That's kind of the point I was trying to make, that just because a post comes off harsh does not mean that was the original poster's intent and a lot of times thats just a loss in translation of tone

 

I think the problem is not everyone knows it's intended as a harmless post?

And even with good intentions if someone is bothered by something, that good intent doesn't shrug it off. Not saying either party is in the wrong, but misunderstandings and misinterpretation are bound to happen over text chat, especially among those who aren't well acquainted with each other.

I enjoy your posts, certainly don't hate you, but I could see why someone would be rubbed the wrong way too.

 

I assumed you accidentally posted in this thread when you meant to post in the DIY thread.

 

i figured the over the top insult of "fascist" would be a dead giveaway that i was being 0% serious

 

So yeah basically what carpet elf said while i was slowly typing on the phone.

i know, but jumping to conclusions does no one any good. i think its important to clarify before you react on the internet, regardless whether you or the other person feels like they're not being respected. It's not always the fault of a person who makes sarcastic posts, sometimes a person's perception of what's going on in this thread is more sensitive than what is actually happening. Like when me and CarpetElf argue, we give each other a hard time because we used to live together but that doesnt stop people from coming in this thread and assuming "wow people are just mean and nasty to each other" and thinking we don't like or respect each other.

just too many knee-jerk reactions going on in here on both sides.

 

It's when I played that shitty Phantasy Star Universe MMO.

If I didn't have that to retreat to who knows where I'd be right now. Bullying was relentless back then.

Confused if you think I was calling out anything specific from you or whatever, I wasn't, specifically tried to avoid putting individuals on blast. Sorry if someone is getting aggressive w you personally but that wasn't what it was about for me

 

i never had any friends in middle school AND my parents didn't let me play wow. had a great childhood.

 

yeah i had it pretty bad in middle school too. My parents skipped me a grade in early elementary school and looking back i really wish they hadn't done that. My birthday is right before school starts (July 28) so it was really a 2 year difference. Was behind a lot of my peers maturity wise and also naive compared to them and that made me an easy target until I got older and things started to balance out more socially. If I have a child, even if he/she is ludicrously smart I would prefer to do things differently and allow him/her to grow with their age group.

 

word i just figured those posts last night might've been about me vs ftank but if not thats cool, and honestly even if they were its cool too i just wanted to express my side of it
