As someone who started as an English major but decided that having a more useless major like History would be fun, don't be a History major.

Honestly being an English major has made me stop reading for enjoyment for about a decade now. Can't wait until I'm good enough at teaching to not spend my life retooling my curriculum and be able to read casually sometimes

eventually I'll find out what I want to do with my History major, I think that would be the case for any major for me though

I've heard that. It's why I don't read a lot of my assignments haha.

Also, no idea what I'm gonna do haha.

Don't get me wrong, I love History and I loved studying it. I just didn't do myself any favors career-wise. Also, I got good grades but I have a terrible memory, so I'd immediately forget everything I'd learn from one semester to the next.

As a philosophy major, what really is "reading"?

Yeah. I just made you all re-think your entire lives. Enjoy yourselves.

  12. Last book I read was a Murakami now I'm reading 100 years of solitude

English Education was much more rewarding than majoring in English, imo. Less bullshit heady english classes. Made me hate teaching theory but not reading

I took one Poli Sci class, hated it. Maybe because it was about Texas' political system but whatever

im a big fan of history too and really wanted to pursue a history major, but english just spoke to me more.

thats a bad joke and i apologize
all this time i had no idea you were an english teacher thats so cool
yeah i think ill pursue an english education kind of career path. while i do enjoy the more cerebral, albeit full of bullshit, english classes id much prefer teaching to just absorbing and regurgitating while debating interpretations.

Not hate so much as exhaustion. Reading 3 novels a week simultaneously for 6 years straight or so just burned me out. And then the first few years in the classroom, who has time.

    I do still love it.

I loved political science. I am not fit for that industry though haha. As far as education goes, it is something I like to pursue but I need to be in the right situation. Leon County Schools turned me off of the idea real fast

y'all were being silly so I skipped a bunch of pages and now we're talking about reading and majors. I dig it. I stopped reading when I got to @Chaplain Tappman 's post about Waka Waka cause I mean how do you surpass that peak?

It's also funny cause I wanted to talk today about how underrated Shaki is. She wrote almost the entirety of Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 herself and the good sis is only ever remembered for her truthful hips

I remember her mostly for being terrible at compliments. "Underneath your clothes, there's a fairy story". Um...thanks?
