lyrically there is a humungonormous gap between the two. Musically, i get not liking the sound of Bright Eyes but the man is a damn wordsmith

I will be okay. everything Supporter

I am the only person my age I know who does not like 21p

That's basically what the conversation boiled down to.

there's a very small sweet spot in bright eyes discography where he was actually grown up from the earlier bad shit but before he became too confident for his own good and started making bad shit again. extremely small window, encompasses like half an album

Kinda doesn't make a very good case for 21p being good when all you can say to someone who doesn't like them is "yeah well your music sucks"

I'm not even a big Bright Eyes fan but I loooooove Cassadaga. Exceptional lyrics and alt country production and hardly a dull track on it.

i would say theres a good album's worth of songs between digital ash and im wide awake. other than that, exceedingly weak discog. the best thing oberst has done is payola

I think I'm the singer/songwriter department, they're both great. Conor has released some duds (as well as Adams) but for the most part, I'm a big fan of their work. I think they're north quite good at their craft.

also if it were up to me Bad Suns and The 1975 would be switched in popularity

Bad Suns are ok but nowhere near The 1975 imo

The Ryan Adams version of 1989 was one of my least favorite things I heard last year

There's no way Payola is better than I'm Wide Awake. I'm a fan of both records, but I'm Wide Awake is gold.

im wide awake is super overrated and hasnt held up well as a whole

Agreed. One of the most annoying things to is when people start talking about Adams and all they know him for is the 1989 cover album. Wish he wouldn't have done it.

if we're playing the swip swap game I'd take Jawbreaker over Green Day. Jawbreaker was on to bigger and greater things after Dear You when the label shelved them, Green Day mostly got more vapid after 1996

OH gimme more Straylight Run over more Taking Back Sunday they never needed to reunite

Holds up on my turntable pretty damn well. I love that record.

It's one of those things that sounds so ridiculous out of my mouth I hardly even believe it myself lol. I actually do like The 1975 and realize they're more inventive than Bad Suns but I actually just love every Bad Suns song and think they're all catchy and gr8 and I'm mad online that they're not huge
