i just listened to "east coast girl" to remind myself what he even sounds like. and man.

    man.

    just.

okay. like. number one, the song title sounds like it was made by a Springsteen Song Title Generator from 2004. number 2, the entire song itself sounds like if that same generator got struck by lightning and achieved sentience in a freak accident and then started making shitty pastiche capital R Rock And Roll

Don't know what I even listened to from Butch Walker... but I definitely didn't enjoy it as well.

This shit sounds like the kind of music that would be made by paul rudd's character in a lesser apatow movie about how manbabies cant get over guitars as metaphors for their dicks

I like him as a producer and for My Happy Ending, don't really listen to his solo stuff

    !!!!

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but that whole wave (2009-2013ish) with Tyler and his weird artist friends were influential for what's going on music now and they really don't get too much credit especially Syd.

Yeah the frequent use of homophobic slurs was unfortunate, still some great songs from that group and the resulting solo stuff.

    Thanks based Sweatshirt.

yeah Tyler is trash, but Odd Future gave us Frank and also inspired the rap group from You're The Worst and Hunter The Hungry which are both great

I take solace in the fact that he grew up extremely quickly and stopped rapping about that stuff for shock value

As i'm as much as iffy about Tyler as a person, it's a real talent to get that pull that many people (all the people mentioned lived around the area or/and went to one certain art school), keep those folks around, and start a record company. all at 18/19.
