wondering if these two are outliers or if they are indicative of what we're getting from the whole LP. i'm hoping it's more than a bunch of slower soft songs split between kd and andy. i've been underwhelmed by alot this year and i'm starting to think it might just be me getting older and jaded cause i'm not really into these.
Songs are good for sure but I hope there's some fun upbeat songs on here Also kind of weird that Kevins devinyl split song is on here
The After Party, 42, Pyotr, April Fool, Apprehension all were played live or were older leaked tracks before they made it to albums. I'm sure there are more, that's just off the top of my head.
It bothers me on a very dumb level that Kevin has a song named Afterparty, and Bad Books has a song named THE After Party.
It upsets me that MO has two different songs called Opposite Sides, and the better one is harder to find and not on streaming.
Ugh, yeah that's pretty expensive shipping... I think thats hilarious actually. I had the Cope boxset pulled out one day and I listened to it and was super confused as I didn't recognize the song at all. I like the Echo version though quite a bit. The Cope version sounds sounds like something we'd see on RAGC, which I'm also fully into.
Those two have more b-sides than places to put them...but I kinda love it. I Know How To Speak didn’t even make Manchester’s last album, and it's probably my second favourite Black Mile era song. Still waiting on Sinful Math too. Kevin’s always contributing to comp’s and splits as well, and has a lot of extra material. It’s impressive and if Bad Books is a place for b-sides to go, then thank you gentlemen for putting them in one easy place. It’s really is a project to experiment freely with though. Forest Whittaker really wouldn’t have fit on Cope or Black Mile.
That being said, it's been seven years since the last Bad Books album and seven years since the last Right Away Great Captain album. I'm really hoping that Andy releases more solo work in the future although I'd understand if the RAGC name is retired.
You’re right that RAGC May be retired, but Kevin’s been doing the Devinyl Splits, and a song from there appeared later on Instigator. It’s not an unheard of practice to release a demo/original version and have it reappear. Seven years between Bad Books sounds long unless write down everything they’ve each done in those seven years. It’s a side project. I wish all the material was new too. Just saying, we also got Kenny O’Brien songs just because Kevin was playing three St. Patrick’s Day shows.
