I had the very same experience, but it just clicked for me last night. I can't say what caused it. But I put it on and it just felt right. Ended up digging into the lyrics and spun the record about 3-4 times
I was going to say the same thing. It feels like we don’t get to hear Kevin and Andy do as many songs like this (or BB) I their other ventures right now.
I like this album but I still haven't given it the time it deserves. I just hate that line about sharks being in a lake.
I should note that my drive home from Columbus yesterday was super gloomy, rainy and dark. So the album was perfect for the drive. But I mean, I've always enjoyed it, so it wasn't like a 'click' moment. But it was pretty perfect.
Love isn't passive A trick or a tactic It's radical action So, go let 'em have it I love these lyrics so much. So simple but so poignant.
I requested this song to Kevin at our show in Leeds (particularly as Bad Books are unlikely to come over to the UK or Europe anytime soon), but he had never performed it live, not since recording it for the record, so he promised to prepare it for this show in Manchester (which I planned to attend). Thanks so much, it was, to me, flawless. My favourite song from one of my favourite records of 2019.
deluxe re-issue of the first album: https://www.facebook.com/KevinDevineMusic/posts/10158970474962340
will be an instant purchase for me. it's the only LP of theirs that I don't own. hope that live recording of their BTS cover is on there.
oh yea, that's definitely in there too. i just overlooked BBI for awhile until this release showed up
My guess is he's talking about the revisted BBII, BUT I thought the last song Andy/MO shared on their Instagram account sounded more Bad Books than MO (and it was a new song)
