i miss when the backrooms was more about the eerie feeling of empty, lifeless spaces that were once filled with life instead of a collection of scp monsters.
I know Backrooms is its own thing, but it kind of looks like the closest we’ll ever get to a House of Leaves movie, minus the Johnny Truant story.
I'm very exciting for this. Im a huge fan of analog horror, and these smaller artists getting assistance from big studios is great - regardless of how the film comes out (I hope its great) but the fact that the creator of the YT series is directing is awesome.
Love that they used practical effects for a sprawling supernatural collection of confusing rooms and hallways.
Breakfast All Day enjoyed it. Called it claustrophobic and a mix of “Synechdoche, NY” and “Skinamarink.”
word of mouth hype for this is insane from my experience. got between 8-9 people coming to see it next week, I usually get max 4 for when I drag people to horror movies lmao
I’m gonna be so bummed if the review embargo lifts and this gets terrible reviews. I need it to be good, as it’s the first movie since Friendship that I have been personally excited to go out and see.
I trust Breakfast All Day, even if I sometimes disagree with them. They’re not shills. Also, David Sims said it was very good.
RT reviews looking good; only downsides make it seem like the narrative is a bit thin, but that to me just means they wish the world/universe of the backrooms was either explained more or had more elements too it. But as a horror film I would think most people are more into the vibes and experiences of just seeing it play out instead
Definitely not seeing this tomorrow, lol. This thing is gonna do numbers. Not particularly excited since I still need to watch the YouTube videos so I may end up waiting for VOD anyway.
I'm up to like 10-11 strong in my group to see this tomorrow night, just insane lmao. it's snowballing like crazy
