No. He’s in a sit loop. Everytime he tries to stand there is something different in the room. Like a wall calendar was Garfield but then it becomes Odie, etc.
But he himself never stands, so to the observer it would just look like someone sitting while things change around them.
It would be a smash cut from him about to lift his butt off the seat to him resting back in the chair each time. He’d also say things like “Huh” and “Wait wha” and “Every time I try to stand, I cut back to sitting” so the viewer would both visually and audibly get a sense of his experience in the sit loop.
Before you answer, I want to add that Sit Loop could also be a video game. You press X to stand but every time the screen fades to black and you’re back where you started, sitting.
What's the point of the game though? What's the goal? Is it a mediation on perseverance and determination, where finally standing up is the climactic finish?
The point is that your character is dead and you died sitting in that computer chair at work and your brain is replaying your entire life but in small increments that only show up as clues around you each time you stand and “sit jump” back to being seated. Like Garfield was your favorite comic strip as a kid and then you see the calendar with Garfield and another time a woman in a pant suit walks by within view and the woman is your wife and the only way to hold on to that last moment of her is you don’t try to stand at that point in the game, etc. It’s pretty powerful as a statement on life and how we try to stand and speed run through the special moments we should be sitting and savoring.
