A few of the albums I revisit frequently: American Steel - Destroy Their Future Big D - Strictly Rude Gaslight Anthem - Sink or Swim Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Menzingers - A Lesson In the Abuse Nothington - All In Streetlight Manifesto - Somewhere in the Between Smoke or Fire - This Sinking Ship Sundowner - Four Five One Two Cobra Skulls - Sitting Army
2007 was such a pivotal year for me as a person: - got married (for the 1st time, lol) - Year I started to get political and definitely moved to the left - diagnosed with cancer - last year of college - found out wife was pregnant with my daughter These albums truly bring back a lot of emotions for me because I listened to them on my Halo 3 edition Zune that my mom got me when I started chemotherapy in January of 2008 (diagnosed December of 2007). 1. Fall Out Boy - Infinity in High this band has always been my favorite. So I’m absolutely biased here, but I listened and still listen to this album so damn much. 2. Eisley - Combinations I still remember when I got to see them in Panama City, Florida in 2008 (my home town). Went with my ex wife who was pregnant at the time who we named eisley. Saw them at McDonald’s and were too nervous to talk to them. Wish we would have. 3. Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre I know this album isn’t one of their best but I love it and listen to it on a regular basis. 4. Mayday Parade - A Lesson in Romantics this album is one of the number one albums my friends and I would Jam out to on road trips. 5. Chiodos - Bone Palace Baller I literally almost got the “all the worlds a stage” tattooed across my chest because of this song. Ended up going with my daughters name instead lol 6. Silverstein - Arrivals and Departures 7. The Academy Is... - Santi 8. Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo 9. Circa Survive - On Letting Go 10. Kanye West - Graduation 11. The Startling Line - Direction 12. The Almost - Southern Weather 13. Yellowcard - Paper Walls 14. Bright Eyes - Cassadega 15. Cobra Starship - Viva la Cobra 16. Dashboard Confessional - The Shade of Poison Trees 17. Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight 18. Lupe Fiasco - The Cool 19. PM Today - and Then the Hurricane 20. Saves the Day - Under the Boards 21. Sherwood - a Different Light It’s been fun going back to some of these albums
It was self-released in 2007. It got re-released in 2008 on an actual label with a much bigger push/a lot more buzz/the album cover everyone is familiar with. So I think a lot of people consider it a 2008 album, or at least associate it with that year. For instance, most of the critics lists it landed on were for 2008, not 2007. I personally consider it a 2008 album, but you could go either way. Yep, those are my two favorites.
Didn't listen to half of these when they came out. But these would be my most appreciated records from that year. Paramore - RIOT Circa Survive -On Letting Go The Gaslight Anthem – Sink Or Swim Motion City Soundtrack – Even if It Kills Me Explosions in the Sky - All of the Sudden I Miss Everyone Dustin Kensrue – Please Come Home The Gaslight Anthem – Sink Or Swim Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre The National - Boxer Kanye West - Graduation
Sum 41- Underclass Hero anyone? That is my number one. I didn't appreciate it completely at first, but it has grown to be my favorite Sum album and one of my favorites of all time. Deryck's production on it is top notch in my opinion. I love the sound, and there are so many bangers.
I'm aware it's not the popular opinion when it comes to Sum 41. But dissecting those songs, there are so many juicy layers filled with some of my favorite songwriting moments from any artist. I can't be the only one who loves the way the album flows. That piano at the end of "With Me" going into "Pull the Curtain" is magic to my ears.
dang, i forgot about the almost and silverstein. kinda surprised the almost hasn't appeared in the thread more.
Fun album. Did you listen to the one they released a few years ago with Matt singing again? I like that one as well. I’m not totally sure but they might be in the process of making some new music.
Commit this to Memory is far and away the favorite, but Even If It Kills Me is definitely second place
From a production stand point I always felt everything post Even sounded like a complete regression - Demo sounding type shit, even the better tunes of the lot
Yeah, I didn't really like that one. Thought it was pretty boring but maybe it's time to revisit it. Their first two albums are still gold. I even liked their third with that different singer.
