Great read, so happy you're doing this. Lots of great memories here. I don't think I joined AP.net until 2006. I'd started really obsessing over music around 2004 but couldn't afford to buy much until 2006 which is when I got right into wanting actual albums.
Looking at my collection now, my favourite 'scene' album of that year, at the time, would be In the Wake of Determination by Story of the Year.
My top three albums would be:
    1. The Hold Steady -- Separation Sunday
    2. Jack's Mannequin -- Everything in Transit
    3. The National -- Alligator

Gatsbys and Acceptance are two bands that should have absolutely blown up over those albums. So many amazing one's there though. Thanks for this! Do more!

“Feeling a Moment” from that Feeder album is one of my favorite songs ever. So, so great.

Haven’t listened to the Athlete record in awhile, but I was super into it that fall.

Not sure about an order, and I was like 12 or so, so a lot of this is a little retrospective as I think the only bands I listened to then was Green Day and Blink, but these are the main albums that popped into my mind from that year.

Against Me! - Searching For A Former Clarity
    All-American Rejects - Move Along
    Alkaline Trio - Crimson
Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil
    Bayside - S/T
    City And Colour - Sometimes
Death Cab For Cutie - Plans
Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree
Funeral For A Friend - Hours
Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit (i discovered this album last year due to this website but it counts)
    Kanye West - Late Registration
Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory
Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Paramore - All We Know Is Falling
    Silverstein - Discovering The Waterfront

  14. I have a hard time coming up with a better pair of singles from one album than "Feeling a Moment" and "Pushing the Senses." Don't know how that album didn't get huge.

It’s a total “shoot your shot” album: write massive, anthemic songs; bring in Gil Norton to produce. It deserved more attention than it got, just like so many rock albums from this era that flew under the radar.

I didn’t realize all these releases were so close together, helps me calibrate and pinpoint pretty precisely that this was the year I got into the scene. These bands don’t feel like bands that are selling out; for me this was the baseline.

favorites would be anberlin, Silverstein, armor for sleep, circa, city & colour, alk3

This was a lot of fun to read, Jason. It’s amazing how many of my favorite albums were released in 2005...I never noticed it before, but totally makes sense based on where I was in my life at that time. Really cool to look back on...thanks for taking the time to do this. It brought back some great memories. Hope you do it for each of the EOTY lists you found!
