I'm really excited to finally get more Babymetal. I really like Pa Pa Ya aside from the rap and I saw two new live vids that both sounded very promising.

 

I'm not sure I like this one. I feel like they are strongest without the male vocals. They just come off annoying to me.

 

This upcoming tour should be a damn arena tour.

 

I think it's great aside from the rapping.

It feels weird hearing people who probably weren't a big part of the creative process talk about what goes into making the record.

I wonder if this tour isn't selling too well. I keep seeing all kinds of ticket deals for half price tickets. That original price was so offputting.

 

I just happened to be in Japan for the release of this so I got myself a Japanese copy! Only listened once but I really like it, there's some very fun stuff on here. Only criticism is that some songs are too repetitive and don't really progress much.

It's grown on me a lot, even the songs I didnt like at first. Su continues to be incredible.

 

I definitely don't like the song with the singer of Sabaton, but I also think that whole genre stinks.

 

Oh! MAJINAI has grown on me and I hate myself for it. lol

Having the Polyphia song after that one helps a ton.

 

Haha, it grew on me too. It's infectious.

 

Pfft, Babymetal is better than most of the bands he mentions.

I think they're popular because adding pop to metal instantly makes it more accessible to a wider audience. I love how a lot of metal sounds but can't stand most of the vocals so mixing great metal music with great female pop makes it way more interesting and fun for me.

 

I also find it interesting that all of the examples of BM's music was from their first two records. I think that the latest album was a huge step up from those in terms of music and vibe.

 

Felt irrepressibly compelled to bump this 15 month old thread to say a week ago yesterday I'd never heard a single note of this band's music, but now, thanks to some inexplicable Youtube algorithm nonsense, I'm totally in love with them. Can't remember the last time I got this into an artist this quickly.

Is there a rule against bumping super old threads for essentially no reason? Boy I sure hope not.
