This ended up being a lot less oscar-baity than I was expecting. Didn't love it, but it is an interesting depiction of the unforgiving and amoral nature of making movies and the difficulty of transitioning through an evolution of the medium. The movie didn't totally come together for me, but I appreciate the audaciousness of it. Unhinged Tobey Maguire was fun. Unfortunately, significant parts of the Justin Hurwitz's score kept reminding me his work on La La Land. Will always love his First Man score, though.
I'm glad we are going through the "Babylon is actually good" phase now. We can go back to being normal by June.
Not sure how I feel about this yet but having someone make a loud shitting noise after Pitt’s character asks if he people want sound in their movies almost made me turn it off.
