So excited. Edgar's one of my favorite working directors and I love that he's getting so much praise for this.
Yeah he is one of my favorites. I despise Ant Man because I feel like they tried to make an Edgar Wright film anyways after he left and it just didn't work right without him. So stoked that his dream project is so well received!
Yup, this was a blast. It was actually more Edgar Wright-like than I was expecting based on the trailers, especially in the last act.
Just got back. My favorite film of this year so far (slightly before Get Out), and the first I gave 5 stars on Letterboxd.
The absolute pitch-perfect perfection of this film's craft mesmerized me. Every single frame oozes with precision: the colors, the sequences, the action, the sound, all expertly wound around a thrilling story, it's truly a masterwork. Wright has always been this good, but freed from the Cornetto trilogy (which was brilliant, but always sort of beholden to being genre homages), Wright sings. What an experience.
Lily James was my favorite performance out of this whole thing, which is saying something. She just radiated throughout the whole thing, hitting every note perfectly.
will definitely being seeing this again, so many little bits of references that I caught right away, i'm sure this thing is filled with them, like Jamie Foxx asking for a violin.
I went to see this tonight without seeing any trailers and barely even knowing what it was about. It was fantastic. Definitely my favorite of the year. It kept me engaged throughout the entire film. Action scenes were outstanding, comedic parts were perfect, acting was great, I really have nothing to complain about. Loved the originality of the film too, great concept.
