I seem to remember there is a conspiracy theory that Avril Lavigne was "replaced" at some point a la Paul McCartney. There's also one for Andrew W.K. I think.

"Paul is dead" is like one of the first celebrity conspiracy theories

 

Yeah there were some strange rumours she died around the Under My Skin era due to depression from her Grandad passing. This resulted in her apparently being replaced by ‘Melissa’ by the label.

I think Avril only found out about the rumours a few years ago. All very weird if you ask me!
