I mean, I feel now, more than ever, that Phase 4-6 have a clear arc not dissimilar to Phase 1-3.

Clearly, Phase 4, like Phase 1, has been about introducing our contestants and familiarizing the audience with them.

Phase 5 looks like where everyone starts meeting up, connecting, and taking notes, much like Phase 2.

Phase 6 is gonna be where things get really real.

I just wish it was 2025 already so I can just sit back and watch the whole thing.

Is this related to the “Secret Invasion” thing they also announced? The two different titles are very confusing to me.

They're different things in the comics.

What does the multiverse have to do with Secret Wars? I know about Kang from Loki so understand the relation there. I’m not sure I understand what Secret Wars even is or how it will be related to Kang. Will it be?!

There are two events in the comics known as Secret Wars.

The first is one where an ultra-powerful being called the Beyonder gathers an assortment of heroes and villains to duke it out for his amusement on a planet called Battleworld. Famous for being the story where Spider-Man gets the alien costume.

The second, and probably the one they're going to reference, is a story where after the heroes of the Marvel Universe fail to prevent the 616 universe from colliding with the Ultimate universe in an event called an incursion(!), remains of the universes are combined by Dr. Doom(!!) into an amalgamated universe called Battleworld, using the powers of a race of beings called the Beyonders, that the original Beyonder came from.

Secret Invasion involves Skrulls impersonating key comic book characters and infiltrating their ranks as part of an invasion of Earth.

Ah ha. So I’m guessing the events of Kang may see multiverse universes collide and a scenario such as this developing. Thanks for the information!

  12. I’ve recently been reading the second thinking it was the first wondering “is the beyonder just hiding behind a curtain somewhere” lol

I am optimistic considering his previous work (Community, Rick & Morty, Loki) but he also wrote Multiverse of Madness so we’ll see..

Multiverse of Madness rules, actually, though Sam Raimi and Elizabeth Olsen have way more to do with that than Michael Waldron.

Anyways, I’ve assumed he’d end up writing this since they announced it, so funny that it took this long to confirm it. Still feel like Jon Watts is a top contender to direct, which would be a massive bummer, but maybe they’ll get a better Marvel-friendly talent in there instead.

It’s been rumored that the top contender to direct is Ryan Coogler

Those rumors feel mostly wish-fulfillment to me so far, but the more I think about it, the more into it I am.

My only issue is that he's a talented director who went from Fruitvale Station to a (good) Rocky spinoff, and then fully put his creative energy into Marvel Studios with no clear end point. If he does Secret Wars, and then signs on for a third Black Panther movie afterwards, we could be looking at a good 15 yrs between non-superhero Coogler films. But, if he'd be willing to hand Wakanda off to someone else and make his personal Marvel finale a triumphant Avengers flick with guest appearances by Hugh Jackman and at least one of the past Spider-Men, then I'd be very into that film.

It's not like we're starving for MCU content thanks to Disney+

Better to give each film the breathing room it needs.
