It is Thanos’ movie, though. The writers and directors have made that clear since last summer.

No one said that but it’s awkward to criticize the film due to it being Thanos’ story when that’s what the writers were going for.

It's not awkward though. Just because a writer intends for something in a movie doesn't mean that it's "correct" or however you want to word it. There are plenty of movies where the director, writer, etc... intend something one way or another but it fails in one or more aspects.

I'm hoping that Spider-Man keeps the Iron Spider suit as his "Tony suit" and then makes his own regular suit without all the tech nonsense

Are you suggesting that the writers failed to make IW a Thanos movie? I can't think of anything that would show that they failed. He is the only character that has a completed arc.

I mean, I'm in the camp that loved the structure of this film and narratively where they chose to end it. But it's still half a story. People's mileage with that will vary. As will opinions on if this film's story has enough value on its own to be considered a good film. Disagreement there can't and shouldn't be waved off as, "oh, you just don't get it, man."

Though, the biggest point of that tweet is how exhausting it can be to talk about popular nerd culture online. The poor guy is still recovering from being critical of Last Jedi, lol. Fans can really suck sometimes.

I think this absolutely is Thanos’ story, which is why it’s failure to dramatize Thanos is one of its big weaknesses

Feige stated that the next Spider-Man movie will take place in Europe so I think he might be make his own suit for that.

There are characters other than Thanos that have completed arcs in this film.

I'm suggesting that seemingly blind admiration of this movie falls right in line with most of the movies in the MCU universe, as well as others like Star Wars or DC or whatever.

For some reason, online critique of these kind of movies is near forbidden and it's annoying.

I get that. If someone points out a criticism (the snap deaths as an example) then the sheer fact that the movie is about Thanos doesn't recover it.

The Iron Spider suit is my second favorite cinematic Spider-Man suit (after ASM2) and is an awesome suit for this special mission... But, it needs to go away after this story, too.

This Spider-Man is in DESPERATE need of a "back to basics" soft reboot along the lines of Thor: Ragnarok. Though, Homecoming was successful, so apparently movie-going audiences disagree. *spider-sigh*

I mean I thoroughly enjoyed homecoming and didn't mind his suit as much as I thought I would. having said that, I totally agree. I thought both suits have "suited" (nailed it) the story being told, but I would like to see the growth of this character give us one where he takes what he's learned and experienced, but makes his own suit, and becomes his own hero and not one pining to be an avenger.

My favorite arc upon revisiting this film was Thor's. It's a repeat of the arcs in the first Thor and Ragnarok, the latter not being the most flattering comparison. And that repetition takes some of the impact out of it. But, man, this film has easily Hemsworth's strongest performance. And, I love that his mission was basically a classic Herculean trial. Such a great mythic journey.

Makes me hopeful that we get more Hemsworth after Avengers 4, but also makes me wonder if they've said everything they can with the character and almost have to kill him off. Though, letting him find the Asgardian remnant (diaspora? Is that fair?) and actually reign as a king would be a good choice.

idk if i should spoiler tag this but i will even if its kinda w/e its weird that Thor just kinda got a new eye right? like, it sorta pulls the rug out from Ragnarok and how dramatic that scene was. Now he just kinda has a new eye thats exactly like a normal eye in terms of looks. wish he'd kept the eyepatch

But, yeah, I think others have shared that sentiment on the eye, and I agree as well. Pretty annoying narrative choice, especially since the patch was CGI and thus not inconvenient for filming.

Yeah, I hated the iron suit before this movie but the way it was used really won me over. I really want a much more basic suit in Spiderman 2 though.

This movie ignores and goes back on the morals, themes, and lessons of a bunch of previous movies, reinforcing and continuing the MCU trend of telling wheel spinning stories about heroes who get to be cool heroes while rarely, if ever, losing anything of consequence or suffering any permanent consequence. That Film Crit Hulk piece really nails it.
