Drax was the best in this, I straight up died when he was just standing there during Quill’s and Gamora’s conversation and he said he was being invisible.

One thing I was surprised by is that Thanos let all of the Guardians go in Knowhere. I can kinda understand Quill after Thanos says he "likes" him and their mutual love of Gamora, but I was definitely surprised to see Drax and Mantis still alive there.

I’m still amazed by how the Russos didn’t screw this up. It’s by far the best live action release from Disney since The Winter Solider. I don’t know how A4 will stand up to Infinity War but the Russos have definitely proved their talent.

  5. Goes with his motivation if you think about it. He wants to objectively wipe out half the universe to create balance.

He did kill Loki though, I guess you really have to get on his nerve for him to actually kill you.

When you’re spending that much of Disney’s money, it has to be good or else.

A movie with this many key characters can’t avoid pacing problems or character development issues. It doesn’t have time to address EVERYONE or EVERYTHING. It’s pretty dumb to hold those things against this movie because we knew this going into the movie. The biggest compliment I could give Infinity War is that it didn’t feel like 2 hours and 36 minutes long.

There’s a lot of moments where the writing of Thanos impressed me. Because he’s not just a ruthless killer. He could’ve killed Tony after Strange gave him the stone or killed all of them. He could’ve killed everybody as their trying to stop him on Wakanda but he’s only fighting for his vision and to fulfill his purpose and let the gauntlet or whatever take half of the galaxy

It felt that long to me but in a good way because I was just so fucking exhausted emotionally and sensory wise. It was just so much lol

I agree with above. I like that Thanos wasn’t killing out of superiority. He wasn’t even going to kill Loki until he tried to kill him. I’m pretty sure Thanos truly felt like he was in the right and I don’t even think he could have cared if he was one of the people to be erased as long as it meant the universe would be balanced.

    So assuming that this weekend...

Those comments about who Thanos did/did not kill based on his character motivation helps settle a few questions I had about the film.

Imo, this was a much better film than Civil War. That movie was barely memorable for me outside of the big fight at the airport.

Civil War had so much character building. We got to see Tony, Steve, T'Challa, Zemo, and more have big character arcs throughout the film. The conflict between the heroes caused for a lot of drama.

That isn't to say that IF didn't have character building, as we saw Thanos grow and got insight into his motivations. However, because so much of the film is action-heavy there isn't as much time to dedicate to developing characters.

I love both films for different reasons. IF had a decade of films to build its characters, and it delivered everything I hoped it would. Civil War will probably always be my favorite, but it's for reasons outside of the film itself.

I thought the ending was a nice touch to the Thanos story by giving him a moment to smile and watch the sunrise like heroes typically do when they win. It really made the film feel like it was about Thanos.

I actually expected more action tbh after reading reviews. I read “non-stop action” plenty of times but half of the movie doesn’t have action. It’s just intense and gives you the same sense of dread that the action scenes in this film give you.

Quill mimicking Thor killed me. Speaking of, Thor was the best part of this for me, he was so great.
His arriving at Wakanda with stormbreaker was the one scene that drew applause from the audience and it felt really appropriate.

Wish we got more Cap tbh

I initially thought that too, but I’m okay knowing that the OG avengers are going to be leading the next movie and the story will be focused on them more them. This movie was about Thanos. The next will be about the OG avengers saving the new avengers and probably sacrificing themselves to bring them back

Keep in mind they set up Tony and Cap still needing to reconcile in this too. I think we’ll get a lot of Cap. Well get more Hulk. More Bruce and Nat. Hawkeye. This one needed to be on Thanos for this story to work.

So glad they did it this way too.

In a weird way, this felt like Justice League. But you know, made by competent film makers.

Just in the way that it assume the audience knows what’s going on and doesn’t explain everything. Felt very much like a comic book in that way. It assumes you’ve seen the other 18 movies to truly appreciate all of this one.

    This was excellent.

    - I really thought they killed Tony and I almost yelled.

    - Peter..."ashing" was extremely emotional. Tony just goes through so much. I mean, think about it: the guy is facing the Guy responsible for New York, and him falling back to earth from space, and here he is having a moon thrown at him by that same Guy. And then he has to watch his mentee die afraid, in his arms. Not to mention everything else that's happened. I just want Tony to be okay, man.

I felt like they struck the perfect balance with humor here. Usually the jokes are one-too-many, but here it felt like an appropriate amount; especially with how weighty the film is.

Scarlet Witch and Vision's relationship is so sweet. I love them together.

Peter saving Mantis was sweet. She's just precious. I'd save her like that too. Insect friends!

    Mantis and Drax were hilarious.

There's just so much. I'm seeing this again.

I personally don’t see anything wrong with the non permanent deaths at the end of the film, I still think they had a very strong impact in the moment. I also feel like they needed to happen for the characters to give them the motivation for the next film.
