This would be my best guess on how they’ll handle it. We shall see.

 

I’d like to see the Avengers go against Kang (a 1-on-1 hand-to-hand fight between Kang and Shang-Chi would be insane).

However, the fact that every Kang looks the same, combined with the actor ruining his own chance to reappear, has put Marvel in a corner if they were to revisit Kang.

I do feel like we’ll eventually see him again, but not headlining Avengers 5. He and Ultron are bound to reappear.

 

Just get Doctor Strange to look at all the millions and millions of different circumstances where Kang would be the same but look different and say that happened. Or something. I dunno, I don't really care if Kang comes back.

 

I'm just looking forward to seeing what they do with Doom

 

Not gonna believe it til I know it’s actually in the movie.


Also I am all for recasting when necessary. They should have recast T’Challa. They should keep Kang and recast.

 

No point on recasting if they have a vision of a soft reboot after Secret Wars, imo

The only way I could see Avengers vs XMen working is if they treated it like the last two universes fighting for existence in the first issue of Secret Wars. There’s no way it would be like the comic AvX (thank goodness) because there’s so much backstory they don’t have including the buildup an entire side in the X-men.

 

They don’t have to build up the X-men though. They would be able to use the Fox universe for an AvX movie and then soft reboot the MCU after Secret Wars with their own X-men.

 

Half a year ago I would have said there’s no chance for Avengers 5 being AvX, but with Monica meeting Beast, the rumored 60 characters, Shawn Levy being offered the director’s chair, and Kang gone, it seems like it’s not only plausible but is actually an idea that can work leading into Secret Wars.

A war between the Avengers of 616 and the Fox X-Men would cause massive incursions that would destabilize the multiverse.

If they want more hype they could also reveal that Iron Man and others exist in the universe Monica went to

 

Oh, so you mean like a “Time Runs Out” story with Fox X-Men in place of the Ultimate Universe? But called “Avengers vs X-Men” for marketing purposes. I think that’d be a smart approach.

 

Just throw em all in the movie no buildup. People will remember the big names. Flesh out the backstories in their own movies and subpar D+ series. Then they’ll be equals to the MCU

 

The big question is when the new Avengers will form. Will it be at the end of Brave New World? Beginning of Avengers 5?

 

I meant more so all the Phoenix stuff that is the catalyst and through line for the comic event and how much the Decimation era changes Cyclops to be much more militant and antagonistic. Definitely agree that they can bring in some of the Fox XMen pretty easily.

This is exactly what I was thinking. You have a cool story to base it on that leads right into Secret Wars, you can easily combine universes, and you get the pop of a flashy title without its baggage.

 

I’d guess no Eternals or characters associated with Midnight Suns

My theory atm is that he’s a variant of Tony Stark who turns into Doctor Doom
